About
About 4 years I study the ways the news media cover conflicts. During the years I’ve already made:
- 2 articles in scientific journals;
- 16 papers at conferences that are published in conference proceedings;
- 1 diploma for the best paper in the section “Journalism” at the international youth scientific forum “Lomonosov-2010” at Moscow state university, it is signed by the rector of MSU, vice-president of the Russian Academy of Science V.A. Sadovnichij;
- Diploma with honors with awarding Specialist’s Degree in journalism (5 years of studying at the faculty of journalism, 2004-2009), average mark 9.06 out of 10;
- Master’s degree in journalism (2009-2010), average mark 9.4 out of 10;
- In 2010 I worked out the optional course for 2nd year journalism students about the news media and conflicts. 33 belarusian students attended the course. In 2011 74 belarusian journalism students attended the course.
Now I obtain the PhD Degree in journalism at the chair “Sociology of journalism” at the Institute of journalism at the Belarusian state university. The topic of my research is “Topology of the news media in conflict”. I carry out the research on the role the news media play in conflicts, the ways journalists cover conflicts, the resources we have to improve the situation of not always constructive actions of journalists. I use sociological methods to contribute to journalism theory.
The topic is of great importance for Belarusian journalists as well as for their colleagues all over the world. News is conflict. And mostly what we do as journalists is conflict covering.
